November Sports Update

Cross Country at Stonyhurst

A total of 12 of our pupils (Yr 4 – 8) took part on a very hard, wet, long course on a bitterly cold day. Everyone did extremely well with an 8th place finish for Emma H. Well done to all that participated.

Netball: U13 girls v Ruthin

The U13 girls has a great competitive match with Ruthin on Wednesday 19th November. In the first quarter, Ruthin School took a big lead however the girls showed great determination and drive to pull back the school albeit eventually overcome 14-6. Ms Byrne and Mrs Kellet were extremely impressed with their sportsmanship and fabulous spirit on the mini bus home.

Football: U13 boys v Beech Hall

A great performance from our U13’s football team yesterday, to produce an away win at Beech Hall. A huge well done to Christian for representing Kingsmead for the first time in goal.

The first half offered both teams chances that they should have put away but a wet, greasy surface meant the boys had to concentrate more on their first touch. Nethertheless, they went in at half time 3-1 up.

The second half required a more focussed effort from the boys due to Beech Hall changing formation, with nothing to lose. Max led his team in attack and played a more open, expansive game with some lovely slick passing through to Mason and Sam S. Ben, Cameron, Sam H and Frankie were solid in defence with Finn S showing a fantastic first touch off a high ball to allow Max a scoring opportunity! I think Finn surprised himself with that one! George was solid and dominated with his strength when on the ball and Josh C and Ewan were reliable in their positions. Spencer was loud and proud in midfield, organising the attacking and defensive lines and Harry could be heard in goal by people taking off at Manchester Airport!!!

So the game finished 6-3 to Kingsmead! Well done boys!
