Early Years Festivities

It’s looking a lot like Christmas at Kingsmead School! The Infant department started the week helping to decorate the Christmas tree in reception with their very own hand-made decorations. They have also been busy rehearsing for this years Nativity ‘Everyone Loves a Baby!’ ready for next weeks’ performances.

The Santa to a Senior visit took place on Thursday and everyone enjoyed gift-giving at this special event. The Early Years children along with Key Stage 1 have taken part in the “Be a Santa to a Senior” initiative in partnership with Tesco Heswall giving gifts to Seniors who may be lonely or not receive gifts this Christmas. Donations from Kingsmead families included preserves, chocolates, biscuits and some nice toiletries and we made some lovely Christmas cards to go with them!

Lindsay, the Community Champion from Tesco and Lucy and Bev from Home Instead came to visit us dressed as elves to collect the gifts and tell us about some of the seniors that would receive the gifts. We have all really enjoyed taking part in this project caring for our community.

The week will be rounded off by the Christmas Tree Festival at St. Hildeburgh’s church – one of the highlights of the festive period. The theme this year is ” The wise men followed a star” and so it is covered in stars made by the children from Kindergarten up to Year 6 using the school colours and we are hoping for lots of votes!
