When children are happy...

Welcome, once again, to Kingsmead School's new website...

At Kingsmead we firmly believe that only when a child is happy and secure can everything else fall into place; only then can the real work of a school begin. So it is important that you are assured as quickly as possible that first, last and always, Kingsmead is a very happy place...

In an environment which is firmly based on the Christian principles, our children are encouraged to raise, and raise again, their expectations of themselves in every way. Kingsmead children enjoy an education and a life which is broader, longer, higher and deeper, in every sense.

A Kingsmead education is higher because we seek excellence in all things. Our brightest pupils' results match the best in the country and all academic achievement is raised, regardless of base-line ability, because of the close individual attention our smaller classes make possible. We emphasise the need for mutual respect. We encourage very high standards of personal conduct. We foster enthusiasm for all aspects of school life.

It is deeper because relationships between home and school, between adults and pupils and between the children themselves are open, trusting and strong. This is a whole school community founded on a real sense of family: our older students are often to be seen looking after the younger boys and girls. It is also deeper because of the Christian principles at work at the heart of the school.

A Kingsmead education is also longer - and in a very real sense: our day begins early and finishes late! Boarding is available termly, weekly and as flexi-boarding for day pupil sleep-overs. And in addition to all this, childcare is available for working families a full 50 weeks of the year.

And lastly, a Kingsmead education is broader. Extra-curricular opportunities are simply phenomenal: archery, bushcraft, the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, film editing... a total of 30 widely-differing activities to fill every out-of-school hour. We seek to nurture children in every way, broadening their cultural, personal, social, physical and spiritual horizons as well as ensuring a stretching education in the classroom.

Do take time to explore our website and learn more about life at Kingsmead. If you choose then to visit us you will see for yourself how we provide an education which equips children for life - in all its fullness.
