Mr P Lupson

Department: Head of English

Mr Lupson was born in Vienna, Austria, where his father was in the British Army of Occupation following the collapse of Nazi Germany. His mother was a local Austrian girl, and the family moved to Ely, Cambridgeshire where he attended Soham Grammar School.

He holds qualifications from the University of Wales, University of London, University of Leeds and the College of Preceptors, and started his teaching career at Alsop Comprehensive School in Liverpool. He worked at a number of Merseyside schools and increasingly developed his interest in examining, leading to appointment as Chief Examiner in German with the Oxford board at AS and A level.

Mr Lupson was the author of several German language courses and had the popular ‘Thank God for Football’ published to critical acclaim in 2006.

A keen sportsman, he has an interest in Welsh football and is a Youth scout for Wigan Athletic. His musical tastes range from Beethoven to Mozart via Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. Mr Lupson is an active member of the Longcroft Christian Fellowship in Barnston.

He likes his work at Kingsmead because the strong Christian ethos of the school underpins and sustains the close sense of community and mutual care enjoyed by staff and pupils alike.
