Years 7-9 (KS3) curriculum

The Keystage 3 curriculum at Kingsmead has been designed with two distinct aims in mind.

In the first place, the subjects on offer will meet the needs of pupils who follow the increasingly popular trend of moving seamlessly from the Junior department to the Seniors.

Teachers within both departments see each other on a daily basis and are very much aware of the style and content of teaching throughout the school. This continuity of education is often seen by parents as an increasingly important element in the stability and security of their children as they move to the next phase of life.

Secondly, the curriculum is designed to dovetail with the National Curriculum taught at other schools on the Wirral and beyond, enabling new pupils to join the school for their secondary education. Differentiation in every subject on offer allows Kingsmead to provide for each student's needs, enabling the school to bring out the strengths and gifts of every child through the small classes which are vital to achieve this aim effectively.

The longer school day at Kingsmead means that the curriculum can cover Mathematics, English, Design Technology, French, Spanish Geography, History, Physics, Science, Music, Drama, Art, PE and Sport, ICT and RE. Options for GCSE are selected from these and other new subjects during Year 9 in preparation for the start of KS4.
