And at Kingsmead it is boarding for the 21st Century - a million miles away from the traditional stereotype of a boarding school. Forget images of soulless, drab dormitories, cold showers and endless banks of washbasins! Kingsmead boarders enjoy colourful, family-style living which is spread across the campus, in picture-book pretty cottages and a handsome and imposing Victorian house.

Our boarders eat delicious home-cooked food, use all the fantastic leisure facilities on site, have priority access to the clubs and activities on offer each day, and have a whale of a time on weekends in school via our unrivalled ‘Super Sunday’ programme of trips and events. Once every half term, full boarders enjoy a ‘boarders’ break’ weekend at home or with friends or relatives, and can take more time out if parents wish; modern boarding exists to complement family life – not to replace it.

‘Flexi-boarding’, tailored to the needs of our day pupils’ families, is very popular too. When business demands escalate, an important occasion looms or a family crisis occurs, day pupils can slot into leisure time with their boarder friends, join a club or activity, then have a supervised homework session, dinner, bed and breakfast... the memorable novelty of a sleepover at school.
