An Independent Day
and Boarding School
for Boys and Girls
aged 2 - 16

Compassionate Kingsmead students are about to complete their 2007-8 awareness and fund-raising campaign for three children in the developing world.
Wednesday July 2nd sees a senior non-uniform day at the school, raising funds for Hakizimana in Rwanda, Allysa in the Philippines and Surajit in India. Each of the three children is sponsored by the Kingsmead community, which enables them and their families to be supported in moving out of abject poverty.
Year 7 scholar Edward Wrightson said “Helping these children has meant so much to us. The conditions they were living in were awful. But raising money for them is a pleasure as we have seen the good that we have done has made a real difference to these children and their families.”
Year 10’s Abi Williams added “It is a great feeling to help. It would be easy to think the problems of poverty are so great that you can’t do anything to help, but that is not true. We get letters from these children and they tell us just how much our support means to them. We can write back too."
Kingsmead sponsors the children through Compassion UK, and has been actively supporting them since 2005.
