On Tuesday 7 March four of our pupils competed against 18 other schools in the Regional Final of the UK Team Maths Challenge.

The day started at 10am at Birkenhead School and consisted of four 45 minute rounds in which the pupils had to work as a whole group or in pairs to solve some very difficult mathematical problems.

As it was the first time Kingsmead had entered a team into the competition, it would have been optimistic in the extreme to expect the laurel wreaths quite yet… but the pupils did very well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience – and they are looking forward to developing their skills and having another go next year.
