We have multi-talented children at Kingsmead and as I found myself humming “Hopelessly Devoted to You” this morning, I was struck by that fact again. Last night’s performance of ‘Grease’ was testament to talent, to hard work, to dedication and to our wonderful children. Mrs Hodgson (and her whole family) have produced, directed and choreographed a fun-filled performance. Of course many other people have given of their time and talents to prepare the back drops, the costumes and to help out back stage. Tonight the tickets for our second performance are sold out!
Once again we are very proud of our English Speaking Board results thus far. The Year 2 children excelled themselves and all received Distinction Grades. The Year 5 children received four Distinction grades, five Merit plus grades and a Merit. Well done everyone and we look forward to hearing the Year 7 and Year 9 results next term.
A sport that is growing in popularity at Kingsmead is golf. Some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children have taken up the opportunity to be coached at the Moreton Hills Golf Centre by the Head Coach and Academy Director. I hear from Mr Hope that he is talent spotting as he coaches. Of course we already have an incredibly talented golf player at Kingsmead in Spencer Davies, who won the Graham Moore Spanish Open in January.
Whilst on the topic of sport, our Under 11 Football team have had an unbeaten season (almost!). The boys have played so well and Mr Pearson is very proud of their achievements.
Inevitably, at this time of year, my thoughts turn to the Year 11 students and the importance of sustained effective revision and I sincerely hope that the Year 11 children commit themselves to achieving that this holiday.
Looking ahead to next term, Mrs Gelder and her team have the upcoming French trip well in hand and there is an Information Evening for Parents in the Lecture Theatre on Tuesday 25th April at 5.30pm
We have the Friends of Kingsmead Barn Dance on Saturday 17th June to which you are all warmly invited. Ticket requests and payments for this event can be made through Reception and it would be fantastic to have a good crowd attending what promises to be a lively evening of fun.
I do hope you all have a restful Easter break and that the children return refreshed and ready for a busy successful summer term on Monday 24th April.
