One of the opportunities we love to offer our children at Kingsmead is the chance to go away together on a residential trip. These trips come under a variety of guises but the two most recent have been the Year 3 to Year 6 trip to Barnstondale Activity Centre and the Senior trip to Château du Baffy in Normandy. Many of the children and staff return from these trips having made memories that will last a lifetime.
I am very grateful for all the trips our children go on, many of which are day trips and for the teaching and support staff, who work hard to make them memorable.
Whilst on the topic of memories, any amongst you who were fortunate enough to be at the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Year 1 and Year 2 prize giving will certainly have heart-warming memories of our youngest children singing (led by Bart) and speaking about their wonderful year at Kingsmead. I want to reiterate what I said on that occasion and thank the dedicated team of professional teachers who nurture each individual child in that setting.
As is customary at this time of year there are fond farewells to be said to some and joyful welcomes to others. We are saying farewell to Mr Peter Lupson, Mrs Debbie Roberts, Mr Jason Fell and Mrs Valerie Weaver who between them have dedicated some 50 years to the smooth running of our wonderful school. I want to thank them on your behalf for their care for your children in their various capacities. We will miss them all but have no doubt that we will stay in touch and that we will see them again at Old Kingsmeadian gatherings in the years to come.
We welcome Mrs Liz Ellis as our new Year 6 teacher. Mrs Ellis comes to us with a wealth of experience behind her, having taught from Years 1 – 6 as a class teacher, advisory teacher and deputy head teacher. She also has wide experience of helping to prepare children for the 11 Plus.
Mr James Glover who joins us as our new Computing teacher, is no stranger to your children as he completed his teaching practice here under the guidance of Mr Fell recently. We are delighted that James has agreed to become a permanent part of our teaching team.
Mrs Lorraine Bradbury, who many of you know through our amazing Holiday Clubs is going to take over the role of Bursar’s Assistant from Mrs Weaver. Mrs Sam Hepworth will step ably into Mr Lupson’s shoes and Mrs Higgs will be teaching Food and Nutrition to our GCSE students.
Looking ahead, I hope to see many of you on Friday when we celebrate another busy, purposeful and successful year at Kingsmead. Please do note that you and your extended families are very welcome to all aspects of the afternoon. The timings of the day are as follows:
