Just after half term it was the turn of Year 7 to visit the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes for a Chemistry themed day.

The group took part in a plastics workshop and made keyrings by heating up and moulding plastic. Visiting the galleries, they completed a work sheet and used the many hands-on activities to learn lots of Science. The pupils also spent time in the puzzle zone and impressed Mrs Austin with their teamwork and persistence when problem solving.

The pupils’ feedback was enthusiastic! They liked… the plastics workshop and keyring-making; the activities and the view from the observatory; the bridge building and smart materials activities.

Ten out of ten, then for Catalyst – and top marks to the pupils, too, for excellent behaviour and their mature approach to learning.
